# 7 (what I erroneously and prematurely called #8) REVEALED

The stained glass is at First Baptist Church.  I should take a shot at night, when the room inside is lit ....

Check out my blog list

I started with the blogs for my son, Ben, and for my daughter-in-law, Ashley.

Oops! 8 was 7 ...

I miscounted:  What I called #8 was really # 7.  Last chance to be the first to guess ...

Las Vegas!

Those who know my son Ben, now serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, check out the news on his blog.  Here's a (very obvious) hint:

Speaking of family blogs

With no intent to downplay the considerable value and wonderful quality of other blogs written by members of my family, certainly the classiest is this one.  And she writes almost every day!  Take a look.

Friends of Ben

Those of you who know my son Ben, or are just interested in what he's doing s a missionary, check out his blog.  This week, he talks about this:
Does Jeff City have an "eat it all and get a prize" item on some restaurant's menu?

'Cross the wide Missouri ....

When we moved from Virginia to Jefferson City, we sang as we said good-bye to the Shenandoah and crossed the wide Missouri.  Today I crossed the Missouri on my own power for the first time, riding from (nearly) home to the Katy Trail.  Loved it!  Come try it!

Itty Bitty #5 figured out and #4 revealed

No one has figured out #4.  It's at the the Early Learning (preschool and Kindergarten Enrichment) entrance at First Methodist Church

Tom Schulte figured out #5:  the side of the Jefferson City News Tribune Building

Maybe he was inspired by spending time this weekend watching this

Watch for another Itty Bitty this week.

Itty Bitty #4 hint

Find someone who frequently walks (or for some of us, long ago walked) a child to preschool or Kindergarten enrichment in downtown Jefferson City.  Show them the photo and ask for their help.

Oh -- and give them the link so they can figure out the next Itty Bitty.

Peeps!

My family will tell you that the one essential item in my Easter candy is a box of Peeps.  Maybe that's why I love Peeps contests like this one

Itty Bitty #3 Revealed

No one came close to getting this one.  It's a pillar from the old Missouri River Bridge, located in Rotary Centennial Park, overlooking the Missouri River at the end of Bolivar Street.  The Jefferson City News-Tribune reported, "The art deco pillars, which were installed in 1934 for $7,000, remain at the site, though the rotating bridge was removed when the current southbound bridge opened in 1955."  This is a great urban pocket park.  Thanks, Rotarians!

NCAA Brackets

In basketball, of course, I'll be cheering for my alma mater (BYU -- see Jimmer, above), their future conference rival (Gonzaga), the school where I teach at night (Missouri), my son Tim's current school (Boston U -- though I'd have to cheer against Kansas the first round anyway, right?), my dad's alma mater (Syracuse), and my uncle's and niece's alma mater (Utah State).

But the best brackets I've seen aren't based on basketball prowess at all.  They are based on quality of their economics department or the salaries of graduates.  Take a look!

Itty Bitty #3 hint

Standing by it, you have a great view.

If that doesn't do it for you, send the link to others and ask for their help.

Itty Bitty #4 coming soon ....

Sunday, February 27

This evening's reading included an interview with a distinguished (to say the least) Harvard business professor (and members of his family and medical teams), whose personal experience interacts with professional insights into how we provide health care in the United States.  But perhaps more important, a man who demonstrates courage and faith.  Read an interview with him here.  Another book I need to read....

Itty Bitty # 2 revealed!

Itty Bitty #2 is at the door of Grace Episcopal Church.  And no one has figured out # 3 yet. Care to guess?

Itty Bitty Jefferson City #3

I left a hint in the comments for #2, which no one has guessed yet.  (Well, except for a couple of friends visiting last night -- after my wife gave them some pretty specific hints.)  Here's a new architectural detail to exasperate or inspire you.

Sunday

Today I spoke in 2 congregations in Edwardsville, IL.  Is that far enough to claim I’m following the instruction in Mark 16:15?

I need a phone cam ....

I wanted a picture of the sign in a St. Louis courtroom where I appeared today.  It said:

COURTROOM RULES
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Take off your hat.
3. No talking
4. No children.
5. No food or drinks.
6. Pull up your pants.

Guess which one really caught my attention....

Itty Bitty #1: The answer

A couple of you got this one:  the door of the Missouri Supreme Court Building.  I love the heavy, quarter-sawn oak -- and in this photo, the snow on the century-old hardware.

Watch for Itty Bitty #3 later this week.

Sunday, February 13

I was in two congregations in Columbia today, and had the same lesson in Sunday School in both.  This statement in the lesson manual caught my attention:  “Without the Holy Ghost, we could not know that Jesus is the Christ. The Apostle Paul wrote, ‘No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost’ (1 Corinthians 12:3). The Savior Himself said, ‘And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent’ (John 17:3). It is by the power of the Holy Ghost that we are led to understand and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Coincidentally, after meetings I read (on a blog where my son and daughter-in-law write) a great post about the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Near the conclusion, the author wrote:  “Most importantly, I feel the Holy Ghost, when I ask and seek for it.”  I agree.

Bikes! Bikes! Bikes!

How wonderful to live in a town with three great – and quite different – bicycle shops:  J&D, Red Wheel, and Hartsburg Cycle Depot.  I stopped by each one yesterday and asked for recommendations as I consider what bike to buy to replace the one I sent to my son Ben to use in Nevada.
